Bands
From 1985 - 1986 I was playing in 3 bands at the same time. The world is small:In the same building where "Uhrwerk Banane" was practicing, there was also the core of "Phantoms of Future".Hannes, the singer, took Dirk Schwarzer ("Doctor Crid")into it.At the same time, Dirk invited me to join a homerecording pop music project:
*My buddies Wolfgang Bathelt and Uwe West were still very busy with me in our rehearsal room.Meanwhile we had finally solved the guitarist-problem.Bernd Retzloff was a good blues-guitar player.I wrote a lot of pop songs while I was alone in the practice room and recorded them 4-track.We even made a serious attempt to turn into a pop band.We took tracks that I had composed and practiced themand also constructed songs as a community.I became "Captain Always" - what I think is still a very good name;)
*1986 - when my mainstream-tinker-group was still bopping up and down in the rehearsal room and I had a break in the corridor - I suddenly heard the really coolest and electrifing sounds of guitars I'd ever heard before. I took my horn, placed myself in the corridor with its superb natural reverb and blew something expedient. The wonder happened: The door opened and Don Chaos invited me to come in - he told me that in his estimation it would be more appropriate to play along with him and the boys in his room rather than in the corridor. And that he really liked what he heared...The band - whose member I was now - called themselves "Camp Eisenhauer" at that time and suffered a lot of name-mutations as well as a herd of drummers - until with the beginning of '87 Frank Mellies entered as a drummer and the new name of the band was found:"Schwitters said the Tic-Toc-Man"and now let's go there:
But Bernd Retzloff had to move hundreds of kilometers to a totally different part of Germany. So - we were a trio again. And had no guitar. And the pieces had been arranged to rely significantly on the guitar meanwhile.A quite fucked up situation to say it very clearly. The song in the player here is not one of the pop songs - these pop songs had been all written by me.And I don't want to toture anyone here with LoFi that I can easily turn into HiFi as soon as I get the time and the motivation.A motivation would be a sponsor that already likes my charismatic sides in music.Because: selling good pop songs is never a problem - you only need money for the promotion. But I don't want to be a slave of the industry who is scavengered by the companies for a year and then thrown away. The only way to avoid that, is to get important enough beforehand with my genuine style.Success needs sustain. Or it's quite worthless. On the track in the player I play the Moog bass.
