"Concrete Jungle"We played jazzy stuff and went - by creating pieces of music - more and more into the field of fusion. This really wasn't opposed by my long suppressed vocal ambitions. Wofgang Bathelt had become a very good drummer meanwhile, Uwe West had left the band and gone to "I can't drive I msut drink". The new bassplayer was Volker Marx. Wolfgang had also organized a pianist who came from classics. Christof Külske could play Béla Bartók from paper. And Wolfgang had found a saxophonist, Martin Ungar.So - while I was playing gigs with "Schwitters said the Tic-Toc-Man", Wolfgang had not been lazy. He had formed a new band and in a sense it was always his project. But it still was a rehearsal room band. I went to change that. I had gained a good gig experience meanwhile and I wanted to be on stage. We made a lot of new pieces and put my vocals in. I bothered the boys nearly every two weeks with compositions of mine that nobody could play. One or two of my tracks survived the band judgements without suffering too big mutations and in all pieces I took the seat of the arranger, sharing it with Wolfgang. And of course I made all the lyrics.We had a couple of nice and funny gigs .
In our last common band we always had suffered a guitarist problem, now we got a bassist problem. Because Volker went seriously ill: MS.We tried some bassplayers out, but meanwhile a new bassist candidate had to play the program of the band of course and not so much influence as if he where a member of the starting crew. So the bassmen changed several times. It was distgusting and Wolfgang, Christof and me decided to play as a trio, where Christof played the bass on the keyboards.As a trio we would be sure that everybody came to the rehearsals and didn't spoil gigs by having better things to do. We emerged as"Die Nummer"
